Kuyt ready to decide his future

Startbeitrag von Oliver Kahles am 17.07.2006 12:52

Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt is poised to finally decide his future after being linked with a move to Liverpool.
Kuyt, 25, has asked for time off to make a final decision on whether to quit the club, and recently revealed Liverpool had made an approach.

Holland's £10m-rated World Cup star has also been a target for Newcastle.

He told Dutch sports paper AD Sportwereld: "I have an arrangement with coach Erwin Koeman that I can take some days to think about my future."

Liverpool's move for Kuyt appears to depend on whether they can clinch a deal for Sevilla's Brazilian right-sided player Daniel Alves.

Sevilla are demanding £12m, which would virtually exhaust manager Rafael Benitez's transfer budget.

If he pulls out of a move and switches attention to Birmingham City's Jermaine Pennant, he could then have enough cash to fund a move for Kuyt.

Kuyt said recently: "The Feyenoord president has informed me of a new approach from last year's European champions.

"I am happy at Feyenoord but would like to play in the Premier League."

He added: "Last year that was close to happening so for now I prefer to concentrate only on the World Cup because my hopes could be soured again."

The Dutchman, who is under contract until 2009, has scored 71 goals in 101 games for Feyenoord but has consistently been priced out of a move by his club.

He said: "It is out of my hands. I have several opportunities but it is now down to Feyenoord."

The forward began his career at FC Utrecht in 1998 before moving to Feyenoord in 2003.

Liverpool head race to sign Kuyt

Liverpool are leading the chase to sign Feyenoord's Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt, according to his agent Rob Jansen
Jansen told BBC Sport that it was "no secret" that the Reds were eager to sign the 25-year-old - but warned they face stiff competition.

"There are some clubs interested in England and in Spain," Jansen confirmed

Earlier this summer Kuyt said he would be keen on a move to Newcastle, while Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal have all been heavily linked with the frontman.

Jansen said he expected Kuyt to leave Holland before the start of the new season and hinted that England was his favoured destination.

"He has a special feeling for the Premier League," Jansen said. "But there are some major clubs playing on a world level in Spain too."

Kuyt was a part of the Dutch World Cup squad which lost in the second round to Portugal.

He started the tournament on the bench but broke into the side at the expense of Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Dirk Kuyt's agent has insisted that he is not in talks with Liverpool or any other clubs.

The Feyenoord striker is the subject of constant speculation about his future at De Kuip.

Liverpool and Newcastle are just two of a host of clubs understood to be monitoring Kuyt's situation.

However, Rob Jansen insists no talks are taking place with any side and they would not unless anyone agreed terms firstly with Feyenoord.

"No, absolutely not," he told Algemeen Dagblad when asked if Kuyt was set to sign for Liverpool.

When asked if he was in talks, he replied: "No and also not with any other English club.

"If a foreign side not want to pay the demanded fee, Dirk will stay at Feyenoord. It's that simple. The club and the player has excellent agreements.

"It's know many clubs are interested. Howev

Kuyt negotiations begin
2006-08-07 12:58

Liverpool have reportedly opened negotiations with Feyenoord for striker Dirk Kuyt.
It appears Reds boss Rafael Benitez's search for a new forward has come to an end, with Liverpool prepared to pay the £10million asking price for the Dutch international.

Obafemi Martins has handed in a transfer request following Inter Milan's capture of Hernan Crespo on a 2-year contract from Chelsea today.

The 21-year-old's agent claims several Premier League clubs are interest in signing the highly-rated striker.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez may be alerted to this development, especially if Feyenoord make things difficult with our attempts to sign Dirk Kuyt.

We'd be very surprised if Liverpool didn't make an informal enquiry about Inter's valuation of the player... if we haven't already.

'One of Serie A's fastest players, Obafemi Martins possesses an incredible sense for goals and has been touted for great things since bursting on the scene aged 18,' - UEFA.COM

'Regarded by many as one of Inter's finest recruitments in years, Martins has established himself in one of the world's elite strikeforces... is well known for his surging runs, using his blistering speed and pace to run past defenders like they are standing still,' - Wikipedia

Also ein Stümer sollte unbedingt noch her...ob nun Kuyt oder Martins - ich könnte mit beiden Angreifern sehr gut leben...:)

Re: Liverpool head race to sign Kuyt
