iPhone - how to start?

Startbeitrag von Arie am 10.02.2012 10:50

Hi,
I'm new to iPhone but WM17 promises iPhone development. Can someone briefly tell what I need to create a iPhone app, besides WM17?
Do I also need an Apple machine?
Do I need an Apple account and is this free?
Others things?

I'm now used to Windows and Android. WD/WM/WB includes almost everything out of the box . Except for the Android SDK, which is available for download and free - thanks to Google.

Hi Arie,
you need:
1) A Mac with the latest OS

2) An Apple Developer Account
https://developer.apple.com/programs/ios/
It costs 99$ a year (if you want to distribute through the App Store)

3) Download XCode and install on your MAC
4) Design with WM 17 and do some testing with PCSofts emulator

5) Let the installer pack everything for your MAC and then you use XCode to compile for iphone/ipad.

Do some reading (or watch a youtube video) to get comfortable with XCode.

Good Luck !!!!!

Thanks Steven, clear as is it.

I read an article about using a virtual machine (on the Windows pc) and then install the iOS SDK. Would save me from buying a MAC. Could this work?

Steven,

Why would you need a Mac?

Hi Carlos,
You must understand that WM17 only lets you design and emulate applications for the Apple iPhone/iPad on your windows PC.
It cannot "compile" your app to a iPhone/iPad application.

What it does is that it exports code that YOU then compile with Apples XCODE.
XCode can only be run on an Apple Macintosh.

take a look here:

The cheap solution is a mac mini at $ 599
