Protect App developed in WinDev

Startbeitrag von Yogi Yang.pcs.crosspost am 27.04.2012 12:57

I have tried to protect the app that I have developed using many third party protection systems but all these protection systems fail as WinDev generated executable always checks own control sum.

Because of this we cannot even use UPX to reduce size of executable.

Does anyone know of any such tool that will allow us to protect WinDev generated executable?

Hello Yogi

There are several threads in this forum on app protection. One of them is quite current.

There are also some examples in the Windev examples for limiting access and generating access codes that may be of help.

There is a thread on this forum and on Gunters site about using a USB stick as a dongle

Hi Ruben, just to make it clear: all protection schemes that are using software only are in fact using the customers PC as a hidden 'dongle' device. Same goes for Microsoft's product keys and their activation scheme - the PC is the dongle. If this 'dongle' - the PC - doesn't work anymore, your customer has to ask for a new activation for a new hardware and has to hope that the software maker believes him. Means, that your customer is not the owner of the software anymore, they're slaves to the software maker. They have to think about what they'd do if the maker of the software goes out of business, is seriously ill or even dies. Next broken PC = no new install of the software. I don't buy any software from software makers of this type anymore! Regards, Guenter

Hi Ruben, it's ok, I'm just a bit upset about these protection schemes because I'm a victim to them. Lost 1000,- Euros on Adobe's Captivate .. kind regards, Guenter
