Startbeitrag von Frans am 28.04.2013 13:27

Hello to you all,

For those of you who haven't heard yet, it is with great sadness that I share the news of the death of my friend, a great programmer and a great member of this forum.

Three weeks ago he had a heart attack. He was back home and recovering.
Last Friday he unexpectedly passed away.
We wish his wife Nana much strength.

My condolences to his wife Nana and his family.

Condolences to Bjoern's wife and his family. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bjoern, but we corresponded on and off the forum and I counted him as a cyber friend and colleague with a most generous spirit.

My sincere condolences to his wife! I never met him personally but had quite a few conversations with him over the phone. He had been one of the brightest guys in regards to WinDev and programming in general. We'll miss you, Björn!

von GuenterP - am 28.04.2013 17:07
I had the chance to talk a few times with Björn on the phone...

I'm saying the chance, because his brilliance made each conversation always interesting. We would not agree on everything all the time, but that was all right...

Each time, we talked about working together on a development project... It didn't happen and now it's too late... I will regret having missed that chance...

His posts on the forum were some of the few I often had to read several times, before I was able to say I understood all of their contents... Not because they were badly written, no... Because he was that good...

I am far from being able to say that I knew him well, but what I knew, I will remember...

I am sorry to hear this sad news.

Bjoern was a real asset to this forum. He was a top class programmer, and although many of his thoughts flew a few meters above my dandruff, I always enjoyed reading them and trying to learn from them.

My condolences to all his family.

Yes we have definitely lost one of the brightest developers in the community. And his family has lost a very good man.

We had worked together a few times and his insights always improved whatever I was working on.

My sincerest condolences to the family and his wife under the shock of the loss of a loved one, and while going through the valley of tears.

Alexandre Leclerc

I shall ever remember how the old mother ran along the platform to get the very last look at her boy.

I can see him. Leaning out of the window, feeling the parting deeply, but he showed it in a man's way. No tears; no sobs; just a hard stony look.

I can see her. Her shawl fallen from her head; her grey and scanty locks flowing in the wind as she ran. Never shall I forget the pathos of her cry, “Oh! Jack, oh! Jack, shall I never see you again? Jack, oh! Jack, shall I never see you again?”

It is terrible to be parted for time. How inexpressibly terrible to be parted for eternity? How do you stand? Are you ready to enter the next world?
God grant you may not rest satisfied till you know you are saved through the work of Jesus on the cross. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).

von Alexandre Leclerc - am 29.04.2013 13:55
I really don't know what to say ...
My condolences to his family.

A great tree has fallen in the forest. Always read his posts because he had program code flowing in his veins....be it activex, .net or some higher abstraction level. Never wanted to miss anything.

My deepest condolences to his family.

I only met Bjoern at the end of last year when I started the LabDriver WinDev project. Bjoern and Nana lived in the Pyrenees in France and they were converting an old farmhouse with spectacular views over the mountains.

I visited him three times in the last few months, staying 4 or 5 nights each time in a B&B in Seix and walking up the mountain each morning to his house. We would discuss and share ideas and I would then come back late in the evening to the B&B.
Bjoern was an inspiration as a teacher and a developer. We would discuss how to solve a problem and he would come up with an immediate solution which was almost always greatly improved on when we met the next day.
He enjoyed solving problems and was very generous with this time and in giving ideas to people on this forum.
I will miss him greatly.

The funeral is in Seix, France on Thursday.

Pragma: we will miss you a lot. Thanks for your help in solving some issues.

von RAUL2 - am 30.04.2013 17:47
Very sad news.

Knew him from some e-mail contact over the past 10+ Windev-years and of course from this and the previous windevforum. Not always a very 'easy' man - intelligent and hard working as he was - but very kind when in the right mood.

Condolences to his family & friends.

Bye Bjoern.

It is definitely with deep regret that I hear of this, and as expressed so well by the others on this forum, I express my condolences to his family.

I had a number of private exchanges with Pragma Tix on this forum and he helped me out significantly. His method for parsing xml between my WM and WB systems is invaluable. He showed me how you can do all this without parsing the actual XML code manually and I still use this trick constantly.

We'll all miss you and the sage wisdom you provided on this forum.

Some time since I`ve been on this forum and a great shock to hear the news about Bjoern.

My condolences to his family, and what a great loss to the Windev community.

Bjoern helped me a lot, and we where also planning on using him in a future project.

A sad day this truly is.
