WD16&17 Write to a scrolling surface

Startbeitrag von John Marrone Jr am 11.05.2013 14:17

Hi

I need to write to a control that will scroll. I am writing to a image control now using dtext, but there is no way to make it scroll. I am limited to the size of the image control but I really need to be able to write a lot more info to the image control but I can not because I am unable to make it scroll. Is there another control I can write too that has the ability to scroll. It's like this comment box I am typing into now. If I write a lot it will scroll for me. I know this is a text box and there's a difference between typing into a control and writing to a control. I have thought about writing to a PDF file and then loading the PDF file into a browser control but that is not how I really want to do this. WD has to have a control I can write to that will scroll. Thank you for any help that I might receive.

Hello John

A control set to Multiline with a vertical scroll bar and no horizontal scroll bar should scroll automatically. If it is a tbel cell then you have to turn it on the the details pane. There is a "Licence" training example with a scrolling text box.

Re: WD16&17 Write to a scrolling surface

Hi Al

I need to have the ability to write at specific locations using x,y points of location. I draw a few bar graphs also using dRectangle(). I need to write to x,y locations. You can't do that with a textbox. But I may be wrong. I will try to as soon as I get a chance today.

Thanks Al

Re: WD16&17 Write to a scrolling surface

Hi Al

dStartDrawing will not accept an editbox as a valid control type. Thanks for your time and effort.

Re: WD16&17 Write to a scrolling surface

John,
maybe you can use an off-screen image which is as large as you need (without scroll).
Then use dCopyBlt to copy the image to the small image control.

But I believe: when using d-functions you lose the scrolling functionality of the image control
Maybe you have so use dsaveimage and dloadimage to overcome this "problem"
I'm not sure about this in WD. Maybe it's a WM thing. Can't remember atm...
