[WD] 1 gpw ----< * apps

Startbeitrag von RAUL2 am 01.07.2013 21:08

Hello guys. Have you done something like this?

I have this POS project where there's 2 EXEs. One of them containing all the configuration stuff (suppliers, VAT rates, products, etc). Another doing all the specific POS processes (selling). Both are working onto the same DB (HF Classic). Until now, with the first app only, groupware works fine.

Do you know whether or not it's possible to use 2 different apps with the same groupware? I'm about to start the POS app, and of course, I can try it. But it would be very useful (and time saving) to know that beforehand.

Best regards.

Hi RAUL,

I think it is possible if I remember this is mentioned in LST73.

Yes, for HyperFile Classic - no problem, because you can define the directory of the GPW-files.

Thanks Aelfassi and Guenter for your replies.

G: so you say it is possible to use 1 gpw DB (in 1 directory) for several WD apps? Can the gpw identify 2 (or more) diffent apps and their underlying object (windows, buttons, etc)? Do you also mean the example pointed by Aelfassi?

Kind regards.

Hi Raul,

everything for HyperFileSQL Classic since I was not able to get it going on HyperFileSQL Client/Server:

= gpwOpen([] [, ])

this means that you can have common user files and rights files for each application! This works.

I'm still struggling with gpwOpenConnection(...) in HF C/S. For me, it seems not to work at all.

Yes the GPW supports several apps in one DB.
Have a look at the different GPW-files and their field-structure. It's quite simple to understand.
I even made my own windows instead of the very uggly ( back to the 60's) windows of PCSoft.
WD18 seems a bit better though, but since it is too buggy I'm still on WD17

Thank you guys. I'll check this out more deeply.
Best regards.
