Two analysis in one Project

Startbeitrag von Yogi Yang am 17.07.2013 14:06

I have a need to create two analysis and use them in one single project.

My main analysis will be connected HF CS while another Analysis will be connected to HF Classis.

Now when the software starts it will first load data from HF Classic and retrieve required information for about HF CS server, Database Name, etc. and then connect to HF CS where the user will log in.

How can I do this?

TIA

I don't know how to use 2 Analysis in the same project.

If you use one internal component you can have one analysis for the project and another for the internal component.

For the problem you have why don't you use two connections instead.
Use the first connection to connect to the HF classic files and read them, use the values from the HF classic files to define the connection for the HF/CS.

Check HDescribeConnection/HOpenConnection/HChangeConnection int he help for more details.

Hi Yogi
1. Create analysis HF
2. Use 2 connections
gctMyConn1, gctMyConn2 are connections
3. Connect to HF files and hchangeconnection()
4. Create Data Sources with Sql and hExecuteSqlQuery()
5. Back connection to HF/CS
6. Read Data Source files and write data into HF/CS database

@ICI & Paulo,

Thanks for your hints.

You both are right but will this multiple connection thing work for different database technologies?

I mentioned HF Classis as an example. Actually the database is in MDB format stored locally.

Yes, you can connect to several db engines at the same time.

Hi Yogi Yang,
