Integrating Sms option and reply readability

Startbeitrag von Amal Murali am 21.08.2013 10:54

Hi All;

I have a Windev application and i need to integrate sms sending and receiving feature to my application.

Clearly saying my App should send an sms to user's mobile number say with option "Yes and No" and the user when replying with the option the system should identify the option send by the user and work according with it.

Is it possible??? How can i do it??
Plzz help

Thanks in Advance

Hello Amal

There are 3 differents systems that come to mind about your question:

1. Use a modem connected to your computer and send commands to it to do what you want (I know for a fact that some developers are sending sms that way, I'm not sure about receiving them, buit that shouldbe possible also)

2. Use skype to send and receive SMS (you can buy a skype phone number/year for that) and use the skype API to manage the whole thing

3. Use a webservice to send the sms... I'm not sure if any webservice is available to RECEIVE sms though, so you would have to check. There are quite a few of them out there, so a quick google search is in order

Best regards

Hello Amal

Which version of Windev are you using - please include this in the subject for each of your posts.

If you search this forum for "Skype API" you will find a post that should get you started.
When you have made some progress on that, come back if you get stuck, and post specific code examples to highlight any problems you need help with.

Hi Amal

I'mnot sure I understand your question, this time.... an API is provided in order for functionnalities of an application to be integrable into another one, that is its purpose. So YES, you can inteagret the skype functions into your app.
As to how, there is an example available in LST 87 of (between other things) sending SMS with skype, and you can order it from here: http://pcsoft.fr/lst/bdc-old-lst.htm

Best regards

Hello Amal,

I wrote an application to handle incoming SMS'ses and send answers back also.
The application consists in two parts. A Windows application to see the incoming messages, and eventually reply to them
An Android app running on a cheap smartphone, wich handles all the incoming messages, and that can send messages back also.
The "trick" is to let the Android app write all the incoming messages into an HF CS database, and it also looks into another HF CS table to see if there are new outgoing messages that need to be sent.
My Android app also does some "processing" on the incoming messages, it can filter the messages based on a keyword and it can also auto-reply to messages that start with a certain keyword.
I've developped this programs for a radiostation that needed a simple and cheap way to have SMS messaging system.

Hello Patrick Thijs;

Can You please tell me the details of the app you just described.
It would be very helpful if you could mail the app to me

Thanks in advance;

Hello Amal

How about you get onto the Skype site, download the API and find out what it can do for yourself. This forum is not a substitute for applying yourself to a problem.

Here is a headstart.
