Startbeitrag von PETER ZHOU am 22.09.2013 04:33

Hi,

is ver 18 stable enough ( like ver 16 and 17 ) to be used for windows, android, iOS and web development?

what version/patch number is more stable?

Regards,

PETER ZHOU

Hi Peter

I'm not having many projects yet, but it will come. Started with WX17 an are now using WX18 V63C (uk).
WM, Android with local Hyperfile works very well.
WB webservices server with HFCS works very well.
WB site supporting Android app via webservices works very well.

The whole WX environment is working very well.
Very well => No problem that I cannot handle. => I'm happy with WX.

Hi Peter,

Windev
- windows --> YES
- Linux -> NO
- Java -> NO

Windev Mobile
- Android -> NO.

WEBDEV
- don't like the idea where I have to buy a WebDev-server license (deployement). make sure you check the price.

Webservices
I not sure which of following is better
WB web service VS microsoft web service VS php web service VS java web service .

Warning.
- if you want to use native sql server in Windev ,you better check the price
- Windev reporting tool is very old . it is alright if you writing simple reports , but if you need to write complex reports (like more than 50 reports ), I suggest you to use Crystal Report, SSRS or BIRT which provide more robust functionality.

What kind of issues that you encounter using WM 18 ?

Hi Peter,

based on my count , WM18 - android ,functionality is only 20% of WD18 functionality .

you may want to wait for at least until version 23 to use it .

PCsoft never publish the static . but you can count based on the functions from help list.
but beware that some functions listed as supported in android environment but when you test it, you will find that not true

if you never use windev before then you will not notice what missing;-)

Hi ccc,
Linux, Java and Mobile: Do you think ver18 is not stable enough, or WX at all is not suitable for this platforms?

Best Regards

Stefan.

I gave up on WM-Android dev. Got back to ADT-Java again.

Hi James

What made you give up ?
Were you trying with WM18 or another version ?

Well in windev 18 I found a number of big bugs.
1 In the treevie control it is nearly impossible to add files.The buttons for adding are almoast not visible

2 if you havE a table with a tekst colum and a combo . And you want to link the combo to an other file with the multifile feature forget it it just is buggie ( unexpected results )

So I donnot use these features. For now I havenot run into other nasty stuff.

It seems there are no problems when filling stuff by programming. At the moment am working on quite a big app and use almoast everywhere by programming. And no problems what so ever. I love windev Huh I can make things at great speed that I could onley dream when usesing other software.

Hi Viggo

I just could not make loopers work the way I needed:

http://27130.foren.mysnip.de/read.php?27131,165052

Problems displaying markers on maps.

But I think WM18 is fine for simple apps.

I like to export to PDF in Android as I see it is posible in IOS mobiledev. I hope they include it in future versions.

Best regards

James
