WD & Win XP-Location of WD Project Folder Icon

Startbeitrag von Kevin am 28.10.2013 16:02

Hi Everybody

When creating a project WD substitutes the standard folder icon for one that indicates the WD version number when the folder is listed in an explorer browse. I find this helpful when a project has not been viewed for some time as it reminds me what version of WinDev I need to run to open the project when work is required. However, this useful feature breaks down when a project is migrated to a newer version because the number displayed in the icon is not updated. There is an option in the folder's properties/customise section under Windows XP to change the folder icon but I don't seem to be able to see where WinDev stores the folder icon it is using.
OK, this is not the biggest problem a WinDever faces and hardly worthy of the great people who support this forum but any help with this would be appreciated as it would release me from a mild but persistent case of OCD! Thanks.

Hi Kevin

I'm not certain because MY ocd doesn't go that far, but I think that you just need to setup your file explorer to display also the hidden/system files and you'll find the icon directly in the folder itself

Best regards

Re: WD & Win XP-Location of WD Project Folder Icon

Hi Kevin,

I did this only the other day...

In Windows Explorer (or whatever it's call in newer versions of Windows):
- Right click the folder concerned
- Click Properties
- Click on the Customize tab
- Press Change Icon... button
- Browse to the WXnn .EXE and click Open (Where WXnn is your PCS product; e.g. the EXE for WB18 is 'WebDev18.exe')
- there you will see the icons associated with that EXE
- Select away! :spos:

Hi Kevin

For Windev 18 you do this:
Rightclick the folder. Find 'Change Icon' (In danish it is on a tab labelled 'Tilpas' (adjust))
Browse for c:\windev18\programs
Doubleclick 'Windev18.exe'
Select the 18 icon.

Re: WD & Win XP-Location of WD Project Folder Icon

Thanks Fabrice, Darran and Viggo.

Double clicking the exe to see it's icons almost gets what I want but the icon there is the version number without a folder as background. I did already have hidden files visible and while I was checking out your recommendations I found what I wanted in "C:\WinDev xx\Programs\Data" with the name "WD_Folder.ICO". Why I could not see it before I do not know but anyway, thanks for helping to remove the scales from my eyes.

Best regards

Kevin
