Specify physical location of SCM database

Startbeitrag von Malc am 06.11.2013 11:15

Hi Guys

Moving and upgrading the scm to a new server.
When creating a new scm it insists on putting it in C:\ProgramData\PC Soft...etc
Don't want that, I've got 1Tb+ of free space on a drive E:, so I want my 18Gb of scm on there.

I cannot find where you can specify the physical location of the scm, or come to that, the physical location of any database for a HF/CS. Had a look through the online help and couldn't find anything.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Malc

Hi Malc,

The SCM data is stored in the HyperFile Client/Server database.
So the physical location of the SCM database depends on the settings of your client/server database.
This can be managed in the HyperFile control center (see the tab 'configuration').

Joris

Hi,

Where you need to enter the (server) location try:
CS:\\HFCSServerName\SCMDatabaseName

Found it!
However, it seems changing the setting and hitting apply does not work
What I had to do was change the setting then stop the server and restart it.
Then of course I lost any databases previously on that server.

It would appear that individual databases per server must all exist off the same folder,
so you could not run hyperfile on a server and have different sets of databases in different folders, e.g.

D:\SCM - for scm repositories
D:\MYDB - for internal databases e.g. crm
D:\TEST - obvious?
D:\CUSTDATA - customer data

Just another limitation, I guess. Just as well we don't use HF/CS for anything other than the SCM.

Anyway, thank for the help
