[WD18] Universal Replication ?

Startbeitrag von Danny Lauwers am 28.04.2014 21:38

Hi,

Would it be possible to use the Universal Replication to sync 2 MS-SQL 2008 databases. Only a few of the 100th tables must be synchronized in 1 direction ?
Computers are both Windows Machines in the same network (via VPN)
Replication should run every X minutes. We have control of the structure of both sides of the replication. Master DB structure is different then Subcriber DB, but the tables that need to be synced are the same structure, only less fields.

I read the help, but this is very poorly explained. Or my brain is currently to tired to process the info
As far as I can tell, it should be possible, but how to get started... Examples are HFSQL based and my 2 MSSQL DB already exist and do not have to be created.

Would anybody recommend this universal Replication, or use something else ?
And do you have more info on what the best way is to implement it.

Hope you can help me with this !

Thanks
Danny

Yes great BUT WD19 only :(

I think Fabrice is putting this out there as open source, so you could always bracket out or fork the code to WD18/earlier where necessary

Hi Malc

that would be difficult, as you cannot open a v19 project without the v19, and even if you do, you would still have to copy and paste procedure by procedure... kind of a pain in the butt

Best regards

Hi,

What about replication within sqlserver?? I use mysql and if its one way....I just let the server do it. Its row based so it only sends the changes......and it will run in the background.....I'm sure sqlserver should be able to do the same thing.

Agreed. If only the source were text files :(

Actually, one of the things I remember seeing years ago was when I took a backup of a project and examined the zip, it seemed to put all the source code in data files. In the unlikely event I ever had some free time, I was going to try and see if I could extract the source or even update and restore a modified project. Might be a way of circumnavigating the locked down ide to create codegenerators. Probably unlikely, but if anyone out there has some free time...

Cheers
