[WD12] SCM remote

Startbeitrag von Louis Verbraak am 03.08.2009 14:30

Hello to you all,

I'm trying to use the SCM for the first time. I created a database 'SCM12' on my server and added my entire project to the SCM. Now I can work on several PC's within my network and everything (checking in/out) seems to work well.

Now I want to work remote at the project. What should I use for the location of the SCM Database. As soon I enter an IP-adress the Client/Server-checkbox is checked out and when I check the checkbox the adress becomes my default adress in the network.

I hope I made myself clear.

Hi Louis:

This is probably because you are typing the addres in the location of the SCM box.
you don't touch that one. On the box that says server just right of the C/S Checkbox
you type your IP or your domain name.

Hope this helps.

Hello Andres,

Thanks for your answer, but now I get an error:

'Failure accessing the SCM12/Server01 database on 1.2.3.4 server'.
'Timeout exceeded during communication with 1.2.3.4 server'.

I've tried:
Server: 1.2.3.4 and 1.2.3.4\Server01
Database: SCM12
Port: 4900

Do you have a suggestion how to solve this?

Hi Louis...

it could be simply a firewall problem (open port 4900 on it, both on the server AND on the client)... It can also be that you have a very slow connection to the server

Best regards

Like Fabrice say.
To upgrade. My problem was not firewall from windows but firewall from antivirus McAfee
There I am manually enter port 4900 to be trusted. There was no need to tuch nothing on client side, just on server side. If you need more help I can explain how I do that.

Hello Fabrice and Ici,

I'll try to open port 4900 and see what happens.

Thanks.
