Webdev Upload large files 80MB

Startbeitrag von Huib Preij am 11.08.2009 09:16

Hello,
I have a Webdev 12 webiste for a client. His clients can upload files. The files can be very large (80 MB).
I know the limits of webdev (4MB, timeouts in IIS etc) but the problem is that the user don't see that there is happening anything. No progressbar or something like "25 Mb of 80 MB send". I can not find out the size of the file to be uploaded.

Does someone has a solution for this. A progresbar that follows the uploadprocess. Maybe a special javascript. Or a script that I can put in a button.

Thanks,
Huib Preij.

Re: Webdev Upload large files 80MB

Hi Huib

AFAIK, the upload button temporary stores the file under a system name
while uploading, which means that even the webdev server has no idea
what's going on till the upload is done and the file copied in it's
final storage place...

So the only way to do something like that would be to use a java applet
on the browser side and send the file block by block (httprequest to an
awp page by example)... That would allow you to display the exact % of
progression, but that's a lot of work for having a gauge that nobody
else has

Best regards

see “ UploadCopyFile “

change the register settings

Limits
The size of an uploaded file cannot exceed 4 GB.
To modify this size, the registry must be modified on the server.
1. To modify the size of the uploaded files for all the WebDev 12 applications, select the following key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PC SOFT\WEBDEV\12.0
2. Add the MAX_UPLOAD string. The value of this string will be the maximum size of the files to upload (in KB).

Default size 4096 kb

On windows 2003 64 bit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PC SOFT\WEBDEV\12.0

Re: Re: Webdev Upload large files 80MB

Thanks Depre,
But I knew this problem.
And I changed that already when we started the program.

The problem is not to upload very large files (80 MB) but I want the user to show the progres.

It can take many many minutes, and nothing happens on the screen.

Regards,
Huib.

Thanks Fabrice,
No solution is also a solution.
I know now that I have to search for Java Applets or other programs.

In many websites you see a progress bar, even you can select an upload many photos at once.

Webdev is in this particular case a bit behind the market. I still love Webdev.

Huib

Hi Huib...

in fact, it's windev that you need to create your java applet (there is even an example on how to do that using FTP to upload multiple files in a LST)... One windev project for the java applet and one webdev project to use it...

Best regards

Hi Huib...

I used the search tool on pcsoft french site, and it's in LST # 68, 2 examples called WD Applet FTP (the java applet rpoject) and WB Applet FTP (the web site using it)

Best regards

Hi Huib. I don't think this is a Webdev issue. The Webdev upload button is a standard browser control type. It is a security restriction.

If you see other tthing in other sites then must use a java applet or activex control to select and manage the files of computer client to send then to sever..

Ruben,
Thanks for your reaction.
If I find a solution I shall put it on the Forum.

Huib.
