WB12 - Ajax Tables, don't always save data

Startbeitrag von Joel am 15.08.2009 13:19

Hi All --

I thought that one purpose of Ajax tables was to be able to change the data of a file simply by changing the data in the table. I can't seem to get that to work reliably. Am I mixed up about this?

Any comments appreciated.

Hi Joel

an AJAX table can be linked to a file, a query or loaded by programming,
and can be in edit or not.. So in ONE case, you are right, in all the
others you are not. So if your table is linked to a file and in edit
mode, changes made in the table should go back to the file

Best regards

Thanks Fabrice!

It seems it saves the data sometimes, but not other - I do have it linked to a file / query and in edit mode.

Is there some particular way you have to come out of the cell in the table? Do you have to leave the cell before leaving the page?

thanks again -

Hi Joel...

do you have it linked to a file or to a query? File should save the
modifications, query should not

And I think the saving is done when quitting the ROW, so if you quit the
page without quitting the row, you are probably not saving the
changes... Anyway, making changes inside a table is definitely NOT web
standard, so you should limit this practice as much as possible

Best regards

Thanks Fabrice -

As usual you are a depth of knowledge. I think I'll make a column in the table and put a graphic or something there as a link to bring up a popup window to change that records data - that's probably more standard.

You da best!
