WD 14 SCM trouble .. and solutions

Startbeitrag von BLS am 20.10.2009 12:59

Hi, guess a couple of you folks had an eye on the (my) SCM is unusable discussion.

Well, the last month was quit rough because we spend more time on making the SCM work than doing our job.
It seems to be impossible to keep the things in sync. Finally we found out that a corrupted set of procedures was (one) the reason for our pain.

We are still not sure what causes that corruption.. but it seems that packet compression /ADSL is a candidate.

Solution : Create a new set of procedures .. copy and paste.. delete the old one...
Suggestion to PCS . create a checksum.

Another source of pain was : From time to time our project becomes read only. Solution. Rename your local directory ie : myproj into myproj_old ..use open project from SCM

Next : In case that you are using components within your SCM based project and you want to remove them.. Removing is not good enough.. start the SCM manager and remove all component related files from the exe directory too.

In case that you don't : These files will remain always part of your installation..

There are more things but I hope that these informations will help you to save a couple of time.
As said SCM is mission critical SO I want these things fixed NOW in WD14 (not in 6 month in WX15)

To those who are interested in what can happen thanks to a corrupted set of procedures ...

PLEASE MOTE THIS IS NOT DEFAULT BEHAVIOR, IT IS JUST BECAUSE WX SCM IS NOT ROCK SOLID
