Weird but massive problem following upgrade

Startbeitrag von SolutionJ-Reg am 16.10.2014 21:33

Hi,

WINDEV15 with HFCS

I have completed a massive set of changes to a system, including renaming some of the tables.

I am now trying to install the upgrade for my customer, but after applying the new Analysis the renamed tables are corrupt; when looking at the database using the control centre the old table names appear, but I get an error message if I try to browse them. The "renamed" tables do not appear at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Hi Reg

1. restore the backup that I'm sure you have done before trying to upgrade,

2. if you were working on the production DB, STOP

3. Take the DB backup and restore it on a test computer, then continue your tests on them

4. I have seen this kind of problems when the password of the existing files was not correctly filled in the installer advance options, so redo your installer and make sure everything is correct, then try again on your test DB

Best regards

Hi Fabrice,

It seems that the problem is that the .FIC file has not been renamed for the renamed tables, although the .NDX and .MMO files have.

So, I originally had a table called SUPPLYORDER, and so files called SUPPLYORDER.NDX, SUPPLYORDER.MMO and SUPPLYORDER.FIC

That table is now named CONSIGNMENT in the Analysis. After running WDMODFIC the 3 files for this table are now called CONSIGNMENT.NDX, CONSIGNMENT.MMO and SUPPLYORDER.FIC.

Very weird; there was no error message during the update. Before I restore, however, I am going to try simply renaming the .FIC files. I will update the forum with the results.

Thanks for replying.

Ok, the solution I mentioned in my previous post worked; it was jut a case of renaming the .FIC files. Why the update failed I do not know, but there you are, it's one of life's mysteries.
