[WM] - What is connection limit

Startbeitrag von ICI am 26.05.2015 09:03

Hi to all.
I have one Mobile specific question.

Android tablet/phone connect from my Wi-Fi network without any problems trough DynDNS or NO-IP , over internet, on the server (PC) HFSQL. Also application connect from few other Wi-Fi networks, but from some Wi-Fi places (Caffe bar, some companies) application can not make connection to database even I can google it from these networks. Is that problem with port 4900, connection speed, problem with DNS on router or something else. Is here someone has same experience and maybe solve it.

Thank you.

clearly, I cannot be 100% sure, but if you try to connect from places where port 4900 is NOT open (and that should be the case anywhere they want to limit accesses to anything other than web and mail).

That is ONE of the reasons why I prefer to connect to a webservice created with an awp page instead of direct access to HFSQL... This will work through port 80 (it's a web site, after all) and that will NEVER be blocked

Best regards

I do not have WebDev but I see webservice is possible trough Windev. Is it also similar way you write ? I never used it and I will try to understand way of it trough help.
What I see is the URL for webservice from where any application can communicate with database. Is that URL company Web page? If they don't have it,how to use it. Many questions from me but little knowledge about webservice.

Thank you.

it is also usable for that, yes, as most of the time, SOAP webservice are run over port 80...

Sp yes, you could write a webservice, install it on a web server from where you DO have access to the DB, and call the soap webservice from your mobile app...

I prefer to do it in awp page for many different technical reasons, that I have already explained in several articles and posts, but SOAP is a technical possibility

Best regards

You may test as below link to see if public ip port forwarding is blocked.

I use iphone with hfSql:4900 works as charm in public area with/without wifi LTE.
Ports closed in public area are possible, esp. port 25 to avoid spams/scams.
