Windev 21 and PDF

Startbeitrag von Allard am 24.10.2015 07:42

I tried reading the french stuff on windev. I donnot speak french and can only read it a bit. I have a question on the new featre of the report editor.

Is it possible to edit pdf files in the report preview?

I have had a question from a customar . He want to be able to add stuff to a pdf. I made some custom reports that are generated in pdf( not with windev). The reports ar all about getting the figures right. The tool is not about changing the appearance. It is not possible to add pictures

If this task could be done with windev it would be great.

Hi Allard,

As far as I know, this is not possible. The new announcements for PDF are mainly support for PDF/A, PDF signing, and better support for background PDF (PDF as background image in a PDF).

Best regards,

Hi Enxhi,

I replied to your personal message (it was a good idea since I'm not often on the forums these times). Since I do not know if the message was sent successfully, I copy my answer here too. (I do not see it in my "sent" messages.)

It can be done easily in a report. I was using WinDev 20 when testing that and it worked. So if you have this version or a later one, it should work.

In the "Before printing top of page" event (freely translating from French here), put the code

MyReport..BackgroundImage = "your image" // or PDFExtractPage("pdf",PageNumber) for example
MyReport..BackgroundImagePrinted = True

When you do so you can print a different background image from page to page.

You can find more information there:
- http://doc.windev.com/en-US/?2510056 (see the report section at the end)
- http://doc.windev.com/en-US/?1000021350&name=backgroundimageprinted_property (Ah! I just saw that this help page now has the example about PDFExtractPage(). But the trick, not yet mentioned I think is that it must be in the "before printing" of the top of the page event.)

I hope that this will help you!

Best regards,
Alexandre Leclerc
