[WD20] Add Existing Analysis

Startbeitrag von JP am 07.01.2016 09:19

Hi All

Having a newb moment - I created a new project. Now I want to add an existing analysis to it. How do I do that? I can see how to create a new analysis but cannot find the option to just add an existing one ...

Thanks :)

[UPDATE] - I have found it under Project Description. Thanks for reading!

Hi JP, if you're using the analysis link in the project description then you have to be careful! Any changes to the analysis will be seen / applied to the other project too!!

If the new analysis is just a start then you have to copy the analysis from the other project into the new project!
If the analysis contains just a few files then you can open the other project's analysis switch to a 10% view, lasso-select all of the files, do Ctrl-C and go to the empty analysis of the new project and do a Ctrl-V to insert the files.

Warning! You will have to re-arrange the files and links in new analysis. Check whether all of the links made it over to the new project!

If there are numerous files then just copy + rename then other project and delete all of the not needed things (windows, procedures, project code, reports, styles ..) from it. I do not know any other method for a clean import of a big analysis because there some bad bugs in the provided standard procedures for that.

two differentes options:

- in the project description, you can LINK to an existing analysis. In that case, the analysis can be open only in one project at a time, as it is SHARED between the projects
- If you want to COPY the analysis (as a basis for extension, or changes), then you can simply copy the analysis directory from the old project into the new one, then link like above to your new directory

Best regards

You can also go into your analysis and select everything you want. control copy. And then in the new project go to the analysis , open the analysis and paste.
You will get alle the file discriptions and the links as well!

Hi Allard,

this is fine with small projects only!

You will have to re-arrange all of the files and links in new analysis.
Check whether all of the links made it over to the new project!

Sometimes some links are not inserted inthe new analysis, I really don't know why.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. All taken on-board. In this case the analysis really can be shared since the new project belongs to the suite of projects which all share this particular analysis & database.
