[WD20] "Report is too large" error! [solved]

Startbeitrag von DarrenF am 06.02.2016 13:16

Hi guys,

Up until now, I've always used HFSQL in Classic mode using the ordinary Windows file sharing. The customer concerned has now moved over to Windows Server 2012, so recently, I've installed and configured a test server with M$ Windows Server 2012 Essentials (trial version). I also installed and configured the HFSQL Control Centre on said server and Pete Halsted's blog post on the subject was very useful - cheers Pete!

I put the required (client/server) connection code into the Project Code section of my project and now my application connects to the server - huuurah!

BUT... there's a problem, an error has surfaced which I NEVER (ever) had running in Classic mode; whenever I run a report, I now get the following error:

Error at line 6 of Click WPB_OK process.
iPrintReport function called.
Page header of ReportProductOverStockCategoryActive report is too large: it cannot be printed.

----- Technical Information -----

Project : ObjectPos

WL call:
Process of 'Click WPB_OK' (WDWIN_PU_RPT_ProductOverStockCategory.WPB_OK), line 6, thread 0
'iPrintReport' function, syntax 0

What happened?
Page header of ReportProductOverStockCategoryActive report is too large: it cannot be printed.

Error code: 210044
Level: fatal error (EL_FATAL)

Dump of the error of 'WD200ETAT.DLL' module (20.0.148.6).
Identifier of detailed information (.err): 210044

EIT_PILEWL :

Click WPB_option14 (WDWIN_PU_Product_Reports_Menu.WPB_option14), line 1

The preview window isn't displayed, although I think it flashes up so fast and is replaced by the standard error dialog.

Does anyone have a clue what might be happening here? Are there any settings I need to make in the Control Centre maybe? ...you know, something like the TABLESPACE settings you have in Oracle so that the report has enough system resources to be able to process, preview?

Any help and pointers here would be gratefully received - thanks...

Re: [WD20] Report too large error!

Hi Darren,
I don't think your problem has anything to do with c/s HFSQL ...
The message says that you have a problem in your report design !!!

If you are running this on your Windows Server, you PROBABLY don't have a printer installed on the server.
Check this out first ...

Hi Steven,

Thanks for getting involved... you might be onto something... I don't have a printer installed on the server, I would have expected the preview window to open?

Re: [WD20] "Report is too large" error!

Well, I installed a printer on the server and printing via the client PC's still doesn't work! When I attempt to print on the client PC, I think (what could have been the Print Preview window) flashes up and disappears again, then the error message (as described above) pops up.

Printing from the server works fine; i.e. I printed something from the Control Centre, the Print Preview window displays and I can actually print to the newly installed printer as well.

I've installed my system on 2 client PC's and get the same results and error message on both. I can't think that it's the report being too big; even very small 10 row reports cause the error! ...and it works in Classic mode no problem. It's more likely to be permissions or system resources being too SMALL somewhere, but where can this be checked, changed or proven?

Has anyone seen this before or knows what might be causing it?

Re: [WD20] "Report is too large" error!

Hi Darren,
check that you have a printer (or printers) installed on the PC also :)
Double check which printer on your pc is the default ...

Re: [WD20] "Report is too large" error! [Solved]

Ok, the problem was that the default printer was set to the receipt printer which was causing the error. I've worked around this by popping up the printer config dialog for non-receipt reports.

I'm now questioning how I've implemented the printing of receipts but I'll start a new thread for that...
