[WD21] Convert project from WD20

Startbeitrag von Sammy Broeders am 03.06.2016 09:07

Hello,

I convert my project from WD20 to WD21 i now have some statics with a smaller letter and also some tables text are smaller. And some images in my buttons have a bad resolution.
Are there more users with some of this problems?

Sammy

Hey Sammy,

How did you convert it... did you use Fabrice's method (explained in the solutions section) or some other method?

I'm asking because I'm due to convert some projects and I'll keep my eye out.

Darren,

The only thing i have done is opening it in WD21. Wich solution of Fabrice do you mean? I can`t find it.

Hi Sammy,

My situation may not be the same as yours. Let me explain; I used to make a copy of a project (via Windows Explorer), before upgrading to the new higher version. Due to several issues I was experiencing when upgrading in this way I now keep a copy of a project before upgrading, so I use the method outlined by Fabrice (WebDev solutions):

http://27130.foren.mysnip.de/read.php?27162,23174

Yes, it's a WB solution, but as Fabrice mentions, it's good for all the products. The solution mentions renaming a project, but I use it to move a project to the new version as well.

Could it be the reason that my WD20 is a 32 bit installation and i have installed WD21 in 64 bit?

It could very well be that you're trying to move between the 2 versions. I think using the 64 bit version alone causes issues let alone upgrading from a 32 bit to 64 bit!

Hi Sammy

be aware that the 64 bits version is there ONLY for HUUUUUGE projects that need more than 2 GB of ram to be manipulated (3000 files in the analysis by example, resulting in a 10 mn project opening time in the editor).

if you are not in that situation, stay away from the 64 bits version, as it has a number of known (and documented in the help) limitations.

Best regards

Fabrice,

Do you mean the 64 bit executable or also the 64 bit Windev installation?

Sammy

Hi,

no, Fabrice refers to the WINDEV installation itself. There are known funnies with the editors, please read http://doc.windev.com/en-US/?2036004&name=Installing_product_64_bits but that's not all ;-)
I'd recommend to use a 32-bit WINDEV install as long as possible.

You can make a 64-bit application with a 32-bit WINDEV at any time, no problem, works like a charm.

Hi, yes, I'd bet on it. Keep away from the 64-bit WINDEV as long as possible! Means, there are huge projects in our world which could force you to use the 64-bit version of WD. For all other projects - keep your distance.

Ok thanks, i will re-install Windev in a 32 bit version

Hello all,

My problem is exactly the same with a 32 bit installation.
Also Windev is in a bad resolution, see the picture.
Somebody else with this problem in v21?
