webdev21 and splitters

Startbeitrag von Allard am 24.08.2016 11:21

Hi,

Is anyone missing the fact that you cannot use splitters in webdev??
I do and so are number of colleges of mine

The fact that one cannot use splitters is really a show stopper when making business web apps.

Can you tell if you agree with me on this . Maybe than PC soft will recognize this as essential missing functionality as well and do something about it

My new employer stoped working with webdev because of this !! Luckely the still use windev so I can do my magic with that.

But not having splitters is a real show stopper. And must cost PC soft a lot of customers

Thanks

Allard

Hi Allard,

Since WebDev 21 plays more and more well with jQuery, why not using a jQuery Plugin to split your pages in multiple areas. Examples:
- http://www.jqueryscript.net/layout/Lightweight-Customizable-jQuery-Split-Layout-Plugin-flexLayout.html

Maybe this could be a solution to you?

Best regards,

Hi Alexandre

Does anchring other controls work with this?
Does responsive design work with this?

I would like the splitter to be a native webdev control so It works with all other features .

If you start with jquery and all kinds of work arrounds then productivity goes away very fast. Then using a good frontend javascript framework and php and a good php frame work makes a lot of sence.

And as I statet before quite a view people are doing this. eventhough developmet times go up . In the end the look and feal counts. It is the differance of getting the the job or not!

ps

Please respond to this thema if you agree with me. So PcSoft can read this and do something about it.

Personally I wouldnot even mind if it would mean that I would have to pay for it !!

Nobody interrested in splitters??. Please respond to this post if you do. we can then tell PC soft that there is huge demand for this feature.!!

Lets make webdev better!

Hi Allard,
It would be nice to have Splitters in WEBDEV ...
But I don't think this will happen really soon.
PCSoft would have to include a FULL SET of Javascript controls - like these ones https://www.syncfusion.com/products/javascript and this is not a simple task.

In our WEB implementation of the alpha360.biz ERP, we are using the DashBoard control (WEBDEV 21). This technique allows us to let the user move areas and resize them (with its limitations of course).

And we have different versions for small devices (smartphones) and big devices (tablets and PCs).

When we are ready - we will post a link showing LIVE the WEB implemantion of the ERP.

Hmm

I See. That is notr going to be responsive then .

I can use frames. ( a bit old school but still supported in html 5). But I guess that is going to be limited in webdev with ajax and stuff .

Still hoping for pc soft to make a splitter , HA HA

Hi,

here's a youtube video on how to integrate a jQueryUI widget
http://pcsoft.fr/webinaires.htm or here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCJ5dyyeRQ0

Hi Arie,

Yes I have seen that. I have done a view things with javascript my self. But a splitter is a bit of a strange one since ofcource I want other controls to respond to the splitter. The anchoring etc needs to be affected by the mooving of the splitter.

I have done stuff with keybord with javascript and that works great. Using a javascript function works great an is easly done. Have not completed bigger things . I tried a javascript grid and got that working partially. It was not worth it.I lost almoast all the speed stuff of webdev.

The video on jquerie is cool though. Maybe it is doable. ( splitter stuff )have to look into that and have other stuff to do as well ha ha . ( :xcool:

Thanks for the link.

PS
Have sent PC soft a mail through the support mailing app.

Hi,

Would it be possible to use cell's as containers and resize those ?

If you take 3 cell's where the Middle one is a small splitter cell that can be moved with the mouse, you could resize the other cell's in the move code of the splitter cell.

You have to code this in Java because it would be brouwer side.

I have not tried this, but maybe this could work ??

Hi Danny,

Interesting thought. Cells can be made moveble. If Pcsoft would add resiseble than that would be almoast as good as splitters . Hmm I will look into that is I can find some time.

This would be great when making responsive sites too. I have done quite a bit of work on that and it all kind of works great whn using cells

Hoi

Cells ARE resizable...
IF not directly with ..Width and ..Height, then by JS code.

As for the position of cells, that is manageable directly by ..X and ..Y

Best regards

von Fabrice Harari - am 05.09.2016 12:52
Ok.
I but that is a lot of work . So better use the dashboard. Is resizebel and moveble etc.

Not a splitter but wx useble stuff

Thanks

Allard

PS

PC soft has send a mail where they state it will be considered for the next version.

von Allard - am 06.09.2016 17:40
hi Fabrice,

I took another llo at it and cells are indeed resizeble. If the anchoring is set to absoluut values on the control. So in none responsive designs this would work. But in responsive sites the anchoring is relative and then the with property is not availeble.
So I guess with quite a lot of programming you could make a splitter. with w language coding
( if you donnot wnat responsive sites like I want )

It would be nice if we could make "media queries". Meaning scripting the css. Then we could incert a resize before the anchoring on browser with would happen.
