Dongle issue

Startbeitrag von Mike H am 09.01.2017 07:20

I have two laptops running WinDev. The older one is on Windows 7. The newer one runs Windows 10. I had both machines running WinDev 11 and WinDev 20 with no problems.

Because of disk problems I had the hard drive of the older PC reformatted. I then reinstalled Windows 7 as well as WinDev 11 and WinDev 20.

My problem now is that on the Windows 7 PC WinDev 20 does not recognize my dongle even though WinDev 11 does.

On my Windows 10 machine the dongle is still recognized by both WinDev versions. So the problem is not with the dongle itself.

I would appreciate any suggestion on how to resolve this problem.

Did you check to see if you have the latest Sentinel (dongle) drivers, maybe they are to old for WinDev 20 ?

Hi Mike,
did you also switch to 64bit of Windev? Some dongles are not 64bit compliant. In that case just work with WM32 (or order new dongles...)

Hi, Arie,
I'm sticking with the 32-bit version on both WinDev 11 & 20..

Hi, Danny,
I'm not very good at debugging driver problems but here's what I've seen so far.
Under Device Manager the Windows 7 laptop (with the problem) has 2 USB controllers for SafeNet Inc.: Sentinel HL Key and USB Key
But the Windows 10 PC has a third entry SafeNet Inc. HASP Key

How do I get the Windows 7 PC to add the third USB controller?

Thanks to both of you got your suggestions.
