Installation of Android SDK

Startbeitrag von Hans60 am 19.02.2011 14:58

Hello,
I have installed the Android SDK and like to create a Setup file.
What is wrong that I the Platform contrl is not selectable. does anyone have a idea where the problem could be?

Thanks

Just found that the SDK does not install correctly. It probably has something to do with that. I am using Win7 64 . When running the SDK I only get a the command promp to pop up and then disappear again.

Antworten:

Got it running..... the problem was the Java version and that I had to run the SDK as administrator.

von Hans60 - am 19.02.2011 18:48
Well still have a problem to get it going I tried to check out the way a Android application is deployed. Weel generating a "Create a Setup Procedure" I get shortly before it is done this error...

Unable to copy file to .

System error message:
Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.

What is here the problem?

Hans

Hans,

Are you running WM on a 64bit Windows machine?

Georgio

von Georgio - am 21.02.2011 19:47
Hi:

I have same problem, and I 'm running WM on WIndows XP (32-bits) machine.
Something is wrong with WinDev Mobile 15. Even when the problem could be in the new Android SDK structure and version, the problem here is that PCSoft is relying on this SDK in order to have Android Apps working.
I followed the instructions PCSoft provides regarding the requiring changes in the SDK, but it still not working. Right now, my WM is useless...

That means they should solve the issue no matter if the problem occurs because WM or the SDK...

Georgio,
yes I am running it on a 64bit Windows 7 machine!
Still no joy so far.....
Hans

von Hans60 - am 21.02.2011 23:52
Hi Giorgio:

Is it working for you?
What version of SDK you have installed?

Gus

von Gus - am 22.02.2011 01:46
Yep, same here, me and a colleague both running Win64 machines, upgraded to WinDev Mobile 15 purely for Android, but can't use it. Get same copy error as mentioned above, triple checked everything, SDK Version, Java Path , etc, etc.....
Not impressed.

von John - am 22.02.2011 12:43
Guys:

I don't think it's a Win64 machine's problem... In my case I have WinXP (32-bits) and still happens....

Any solution from PCSoft?
Does someone have it working?

Gus

von Gus - am 22.02.2011 17:09
Gus,

I would imagine the 'solution' from PCSoft will be to purchase the new 16 version.......

von John - am 23.02.2011 00:29
Ok. But if after purchasing the new version 16, it only works until a new SDK version appears...we are death!

If the product relies on a 3rd party product, PCSoft should ensure it will continue working no matter SDK updates.

Here the point is that it doesn't matters if version 15 is not compatible with Android SDK 2.3 or 2,2. But it should continue working with 2.1, which it;s not happening here..

After Android SDK changes the structure, nothing seems to work...

Gus

von Gus - am 23.02.2011 03:42
I have tried with all versions of SDK 1.5-2.3
always the same... with other words Android is not a usable.

von Hans60 - am 23.02.2011 06:57
I suppose you all contacted tech support? And have a solution today or tomorrow?

I'm into Android on a short term, but this thread makes me feel bad :-(

von Arie - am 23.02.2011 09:21
Hi Arie,

Yes, submitted a request to them a couple of days ago, awaiting an answer. In past experience this normally means about 3 weeks of 'email tennis' with PCSoft before I eventually give up and use a .NET solution instead.

Hi,

An upgrade for WINDEV MOBILE 15 is available here :

http://stg.webdev.info/publicationSt_WEB/FR/miseajourst.awp?LANGUE=US

This upgrade is required in order to compile your project with the new Google SDK .

Hi guys,

Could you let us know if this issue gets fixed. I'm just about to upgrade to ver 15 / 16 (from version12) and will now hold-off / wait til this issue gets rectified. The whole point of the upgrade for me is for Android... so... :-(
TIA and hope things are fixed sharpish !

I wonder are there only a handful programmer using Android... Or why else has this problem only been detected now.
"Available since :02-23-2011"

I have version 15 for almost a year. The fix is for Revision 8 current is 9

von Hans60 - am 23.02.2011 13:29
They sent me the files to fix it... http://www.file-upload.net/download-3237139/fix68263.zip.html

at least now I have no error message again.

The next question is where is the installer directory where I can find the installer cant see it!

Hans

von Hans60 - am 23.02.2011 15:18
Hoo bloody ray, it finally works on the Phone !

von John - am 23.02.2011 15:50
John..
I have installed the application via WDM to the mobile. As there is no installer directory , what is the procedure to copy manually to the phone?
I mean what files have to be moved for a manual installation, any idea?

Hans

von Hans60 - am 23.02.2011 16:21
I have been able to compile and install on the phone before this latest fix. Edit fields, buttons and listbox works. However, I get an 'overflow' error when trying to run a looper. Has anyone else got this same problem? PCSoft has been notified of this issue.
Thanks

von Jim Carson - am 23.02.2011 16:36
Hi Hans,

Good question, I've not got that far yet, I was too excited by the fact its actually working after 5 months ! I'll have a look tonight and let you know.

Cheers

Hans:

WinDev mobile uses the Android SDK ADB interface.
See following link to learn how to install applications using the ADB interface.

http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-use-android-adb-command-line-tool/

Anyway, when the Android application is generated, if the option Copy and Run is checked, then WinDev will use this interface to install the application and launch it in the device.

Sergio

von Sergio - am 24.02.2011 00:28
Hi Sergio,
yes I managed to install the application on the Android Phone. This however only works for a user who owns WDM. What I like to know is how is a application being distributed on Android Market or shared with other user zip file installer etc.
Thanks for the link I will go through it.

I have updated the today SDK Revision 10 and guess what... same problem again as I had some days ago.. that is not really 10 times faster.

von Hans60 - am 24.02.2011 15:13
If you follow this thread the you see that the problem disappeared and came up again when I updated to latest SDK version of Google.

I am trying to get one of the samples provided with WDM16 running on my Mobile

I made a request to PCSoft and got the following Answer:

Quote
Did you ask Google, or an Android forum, or the WINDEV forum ? I'm sorry but it's not because we are available, that we are meant to fix any problem even when they are not our own.

In a earlier Mail they told me that I should reinstall older SDK version. The question is where in the world do I get that older version from.

Am I the only one having such problems? If yes could any of the heavy Adroid user share a advice?!

The error I get is this:

Unable to copy C:\WinDev Mobile 15\Examples\Android\Android Managing Orders\Android\Generation\bin\Android Gestion de Commandes.apk> file to

Sorry, it posted more than once!

von Hans60 - am 04.03.2011 17:57
PCSoft response is obviously.....'tough titty, you are on your own!' Very helpful eh?

Anyway, you can get the SDK 9 from here:
