Man in Japan designs & builds 8080 emulator TTL random logic

Startbeitrag von Bruce Jones am 22.04.2015 13:03

Have you visited this site? (This man deserves an award for sheer audacity)

Background: A person in Japan has designed an 8080 emulation using only random TTL parts with no microcode. I believe the parts count is some 210 ICs. I laboured through his 120 web pages for hours to view his trials & tribulations. He finally got it right and made it into a kit which a few people have purchased, built and tested. I then downloaded his schematics and explanations. Warning - The Bing translator I used generates some very strange reading material from his website!

To advance at a rate greater than his “Prev” & “Next” links you can type in a page number update.
For instance, page 70 gives detailed theory, timing diagrams and schematics for his implementation of the POP instruction.

Page 110 shows a layout capture of the bare board *HUGE*.

As far as I can make out he has done the design & layout work on a Windows98 system!
UPDATE
A visit to the website today shows 200+ pages for the 8080 project.
SINCE THIS IS OFF TOPIC FEEL FREE TO REMOVE IT AT ANY TIME.
